چکیده

Abstract. The present work proposes a two-step global\local approach for the three-dimensional analysis of structures . In particular, first step makes use classical finite element modelling, based on 2D elements, whereas refined higher-order model Carrera Unified Formulation (CUF) is coupled with 3D peridynamics domain local analysis. solution from proposed method compared full FEM solution. objective to pave way building framework where FE\PD models are embedded into this solve progressive failure problems.

Fast, Adaptively Refined Computational Elements in 3D

We describe a multilevel adaptive grid refinement package designed to provide a high performance, serial or parallel patch class for use in PDE solvers. We provide a high level description algorithmically with mathematical motivation. The C++ code uses cache aware data structures and automatically load balances.

A Review of Peridynamics and its Applications; Part1: The Models based on Peridynamics

Peridynamics is a nonlocal version of the continuum mechanics, in which partial differential equations are replaced by integro-differential ones. Due to not using spatial derivatives of the field variables, it can be applied to problems with discontinuities. In the primary studies, peridynamics has been used to simulate crack propagation in brittle materials. With proving the capabilities of pe...

Fitting 3D Models To 2D Imagery: A Physics Based Approach

This paper presents a physics based approach to fitting object models to images. The process is modelled as a movement of a rigid body in a viscous environment on a flat surface. The driving forces and moments are obtained by analyzing a single image. Gradients and their distances to projected model features support the development of acceleration and velocity of the model until fitting the ima...

A “natural” norm for the method of characteristics using discontinuous finite elements : 2D and 3D case

We consider the numerical approximation of a flrst order stationary hyperbolic équation by the method of characteristics with pseudo time step k using discontinuous finite éléments on a mesh Th. For this method, we exhibit a "natural" norm || \\h,k for which we show that the discrete variational problem P^ is welî posed and we obtain an error estimate. We show that when k goes to zero problem (...

Deformable Models for 3D Medical Images using Finite Elements & Balloons∗

The use of energy-minimizing curves, known as “snakes” to extract features of interest in images has been introduced by Kass, Witkin and Terzopoulos [10]. A balloon model was introduced in [5] as a way to generalize and solve some of the problems encountered with the original method. We present a 3D generalization of the balloon model as a 3D deformable surface, which evolves in 3D images. It i...
